On Saturday, March 20, the Care Mission in LaFayette played host to the second annual 4-H Recycle Day.
Chase Horne began the Recycle Day program last year as his 4-H Leadership in Action project, for which he won first place in the state.
Throughout the day, Chase and his parents James and Kay Horne, brother Dusty Horne and friend Logan Edgeman gathered recyclable materials and usable donated goods to benefit the Care Mission in LaFayette.
Clothing, toys, books, foodstuffs and usable household items went directly to the Care Mission, while recyclable materials were gathered to be sold, with the proceeds going back to the Care Mission.
All total, an estimated 75 people showed up to donate good and materials, and the Recycle Day project gathered approximately 350 magazines, six boxes of books, one set of encyclopedias, about 1,000 pounds of newspaper, over 200 gallons of aluminum cans, nearly 40 bags of clothes and toys, 10 boxes of household knickknacks and many chil-dren's items.
