This year the theme will be based on the “Legend of the Haunted Depot” and will in-clude popular characters Will, Clem and Sara.
Downtown events coordinator Andrea Sherman said this particular theme, which is the story of two brothers who died in the Civil War and were left to haunt the Depot, has been very successful. Last year, the theme was based on horror movie characters.
Sherman said she is looking for volunteers to assist with the event. She said youths 16 and older may apply and that youths under 16 must have a parent present in order to par-ticipate.
“You wouldn’t believe how much fun it is to make folks scream,” Sherman said. “We want it to be as much fun for the volunteers as it is for the visitors.”
A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Downtown Development Authority for projects in the city. However, the event not being considered a “fundraiser.”
“The Haunted Depot is not specifically to raise money,” Ringgold city manager Dan Wright said. “It is to provide affordable, good clean fun for families that might not otherwise be able to attend a haunted event.”
