Chickamauga officials completed the last phase of commercial annexation along U.S. 27 Thursday. Chickamauga Planning Commission and City Council held special public meetings Thursday night at Chickamauga Civic Center for annexing two dozen residential, commercial and industrial properties. The council, acting upon the Planning Commission's recommendation, unanimously approved the annexations and their recommended zonings. Thirteen people attended the council meeting, which concluded the city's annexation from Kingston Road north to Battlefield Plaza at U.S. 27 and the bypass. McDonald's, Golden Gallon and Battlefield Partners LLC agreed to come into the city last month, City Manager John Culpepper said. The city needed McDonald's so the city limits would be contiguous, he said. The city also annexed Golden Gallon stores on U.S. 27 and Lee and Gordon Mill Road, and Chickamauga Church of God.
