Hutcheson Medical Center hosted its annual service awards on Nov. 15, recognizing employees for years of service and naming the Employee of the Year.

Employees serving for more than five years within the organization were honored, including two 40-year employees — Taylor Elrod, Engineering, and Nelda Justice, Chickamauga Family Practice. Debra Oliver, R.N. at Parkside, was presented with the Employee of the Year Award.

Oliver was nominated by a coworker who recognized the compassion and commitment that was shown for a patient that had no family or friends. She took paid time off to transport a patient to Vanderbilt for treatment and incurred all expenses of the trip. Also she provided much needed support for the patient due to the seriousness of the condition. When the doctor advised there would need to be surgery scheduled at a later time, Oliver again advised she would bring the patient back, taking more time off from her job. The nominating coworker explains, “I know God will bless her for this wonderful deed and act of love.”

“Each individual honored in the service awards reception plays a special role in our organization for their dedication and tireless efforts,” said Charles Stewart, Hutcheson president and chief executive officer. “Their continuous commitment to health care allows Hutcheson to continue providing quality health care to the Northwest Georgia community.”
