The final battle of the Prebul/Kia All-Star Series will take place this Thursday night at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga as Tennessee clashes with Georgia in a softball doubleheader.

The first pitch of Game 1 is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Peach State, whose only win in the series was a 2-1 victory in Game 1 of the 2003 Classic, will be looking for revenge after a pair of losses last year, 3-1 and 5-4 in nine-innings.

Pitching will be the name of the game for Team Georgia as they look to slow down a good hitting Tennessee squad led by Walker Valley’s Ashley Bain and Baylor’s Mary Catherine Veracoe.

Georgia will have a number of strong arms at their disposal, including the Class A Pitcher of the Year, Sam Floyd of Gordon Lee, and the Class AA Pitcher of the Year, Laura Moore of Dade County, who are both headed to Middle Tennessee State University.

Other top hurlers include Dade County’s Cara Stephens, Murray County’s Whitney Padgett, Trion’s Brittney McCrickard and Woodland’s April Day.

Georgia will also have some offensive firepower in UTC signee Ashley Cutticha (Dade County), Rachel Reed (Dade County), Ridgeland’s Dixie Ross and the Ringgold duo of Rachel Norris and Jessica Lackey.

Dana Reed (Gordon Lee) and Jill Higdon (Dade County) will coach the Georgia squad after leading their teams to state championships this past fall
