The Tennessee girls’ all-stars won their match 3-0, while the Tennessee boys narrowly beat Team Georgia 2-1.
In the girls’ contest, Annie O’Steen from Baylor School scored one goal, and Baylor teammate Ashley Murphy scored two goals in the 78th and 79th minutes to put the match away.
For Georgia, LFO goalkeeper Julie Nance was the team’s Player of the Game.
In the boys’ all-star match, Chriss Golden from Ooltewah scored in the 17th minute to put Tennessee ahead.
Modesto Garcia of Dalton High tied the match in the 44th minute, but a score by Rob Carden of Notre Dame in the 69th minute gave Tennessee the win.
The Georgia Player of the Game was Sammy Ortiz from Dalton.
A number of Greater Rome area players participated in Thursday’s matches, including Katie Clark, Edwin Guerrero, and Ivan Carranza from Calhoun High, Kevin Hughes from Darlington, and Chris Roane and Randolph Crocker from Rome High.
Crocker played the second half in goal for the Georgia boys’ team and made four saves.
The series resumes Monday with the volleyball match at Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga
