A new Fort Oglethorpe City Manager has been tentatively selected but not hired.

According to Fort Oglethorpe Mayor Judd Burkhart, during an executive session meeting at City Hall Wednesday a majority of the five-member City Council came to a consensus on who should be the next city manager.

The Council is not releasing the candidate's name until he

accepts the position and the council votes to hire him.

We tried to call him to see if he would accept the job, but we couldn't get in touch with him," Burkhart said. "If we could have talked to him, we could have voted (to hire a new city manager) tonight."

Burkhart said he expects the council will hire a new manager by the May 10 Council meeting.

The three finalists for the position are former LaFayette and Hogansville City Manager David Aldrich of Hogansville, Ga.; Sylvester, Ga. City Manager James Dinley of Newnan, Ga.; and Elbert County Manager Charles Kinney of Elberton, Ga.

Visit this website tomorrow and throughout the week to see who the council names as Fort Oglethorpe's next city manager.
