ARTIST OF THE MONTH — Vivian Marie Langford, a resident of Catoosa County since 1948, is the feature artist at the Catoosa County Library this month. Langford, a graduate of Lakeview High School, began drawing as a child. While raising her three children Brent and Jason Edwards, and Colleen Edwards Donaldson, she worked in ceramics and won ribbons for her pieces in area shows. In 1993, while working at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Tennessee, she began a study of oil painting with Brenda Wright. ”I find many of my subjects from things I see on trips and vacation,” Langford said. ”I like painting still life but lighthouses are my favorite.” Her work has been exhibited in the lobby of Blue Cross in Chattanooga. Since retiring, she spends more time with her art, singing with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Chorus and her children and grandchildren. Twenty nine of her paintings are on display throughout the month of June. (Staff photo by Randall Franks
