CINTAS had a nationwide grant application for an automated external defibrillator (AED) for schools in the U.S. Kyra Rhyne, Ringgold High School assistant principal, found the site and started the process. Ringgold High teacher Robin Gardner and school nurse Janice Williams did the medical part and Mike Hales, a Ringgold High teacher, looked over the application before it was sent. Ringgold High is so large — with 1,200 students and another 150 employees — that it needed a couple of AEDs on campus. Ringgold High has various sporting events that go on all year long. It also has students and teachers with medical conditions in the school. The school wanted to be prepared. Of 653 applications, only 100 schools were chosen nationwide to receive an AED. Ringgold High was lucky to be one of five schools chosen in the state of Georgia to receive the donated AED from CINTAS.
