The Bobcats (6-14, 0-5) would enjoy an eight-point lead in the first half before seeing the lead vanish by the break. Toccoa Falls would use 50-percent three-point shooting in the first stanza to secure a 39-37 lead going into the intermission.
GNTC would come roaring back in the final minutes behind the three-point shooting of sophomore Justin Dempsey and freshman Hunter Ivester.
NJCAA All-Region and All-District standout Alex Miller would lead all scorers with 26 points, 12 boards, and a pair of rejections in the non-region loss. Ivester would contribute 14 points and collect three steals before fouling out with two minutes to play.
Josh Barrett would lead the Toccoa Falls effort with 23 points and six assists in the win.
The Bobcats were without freshman Fernando Lemus, Jr., freshman Quinton Cotton and freshman Jordan Robinson due to injuries. All three are probable for Friday night’s home game in Rossville against Macon State.
The team will hold a food drive that night to benefit the LaFayette Care Mission. Each cash or non-perishable food donation is worth one free admission to the game. It will also be Youth League Night at the Rossvilel Athletic Center. Players of any and all youth recreation basketball teams will get a free admission by wearing their game jersey to the event.
