A Walker County man and woman have been arrested after an altercation in which a Rossville man was shot at.

According to Walker County Sheriff’s Office reports:

William Ronald Warren II, 36, and Stephanie Ann Barrett, 27, both of Travis Road in the Fairveiw community, were arrested for aggravated assault Tuesday night, June 5.

At 8:50 p.m. that day the two allegedly confronted a 42-year-old Rossville man, in the parking lot of an apartment complex on West James Street in Rossville, about a debt of $60. An argument broke out and Warren pulled a gun, which led to a physical altercation.

Warren fired several shots from the .38-caliber revolver, but did not directly hit the Rossville man. A mark left on the man’s hand could either be from the scuffle or a bullet grazing his skin. The victim refused medical treatment. The couple fled, as several neighbors called 911.

Deputies went to couple’s residence, three miles from the shooting, and arrested them.

Warren had discarded the gun after the shooting. Deputies searched the roadway for nearly two hours before locating it, with one bullet still in the chamber.

Warren and Barrett each face a felony count of aggravated assault. Warren was also charged with possessing a firearm while committing a crime.

The couple bonded out of jail the next day, with Warren’s bond set at $5,000.
