The 77-year-old victim told police that someone entered the residence while her son was in the home.
The victim’s son said he was in the basement at the time of the incident, and that while down there, he heard someone upstairs moving around.
He also said he walked outside from the basement and saw a silver Jeep SUV in the driveway with the doors open.
He said he did not notify anyone about the incident, and that he returned to the basement and heard the person upstairs for approximately 10 minutes after that.
Several pry marks were visible on the rear sliding door of the residence, but the victim told police that the marks had previously been on the door, and that she left the door unlocked prior to leaving the residence.
Two jewelry boxes filled with assorted jewelry, and a chrome-plated pistol were among the items reported stolen during the incident.
The case was turned over to detective Ronald Roach.
· Between March 23 and April 1, a residential burglary occurred on Boynton Terrace in Ringgold resulting in the theft of more than $3,000 worth of jewelry from the home.
The victim told police that he and his wife arrived home to find that a someone entered his residence while the couple was out of town on vacation.
He said several articles of jewelry were stolen from the closet in the master bedroom.
He also stated that the rear door to the garage does not lock and that they left the door to the kitchen from the garage unlocked when they left.
There were no visible signs of forced-entry into the home.
The case was turned over to detective Ronald Roach.
