COMMUNITY · Homeschooled children are invited to come to the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library Wednesday, May 2, at 1 p.m. to read books, learn and converse with other students their age.

COMMUNITY · Casey and Son Horseshoeing School will hold its 23rd annual spring fling and open house May 2-6. This family event is free to horse owners and will help visitors learn what best suits them and their horses. Free trimming and shoeing will be offered. Other services offered include dentistry, massage, saddle fit, magnetic ther-apy, hoof repair, nutrition information and evaluations from head to hoof using a thermal image camera. COMMUNITY · Catoosa Citizens for Literacy and the Catoosa County Public Library are sponsoring their fifth annual “One Book, One Community” program. This year’s book of choice is “The House on Tradd Street,” written by novelist Karen White, who will be making a guest appearance Wednesday, May 2, at 6 p.m. at The Learning Center in Ringgold. COMMUNITY · Walker County residents are invited to the Rossville Public Library at 6 p.m. May 3 to learn how to access free subscriptions to GED, ACT and SAT preparation materials, personalized resume building software, practice AP exams, subject tutorials for elementary, middle and high school and much more.

EDUCATION · Naomi Elementary School will be featured in a one-hour documentary on “Spotlight on Schools” from 4 to 5 p.m. May 3 on local cable channel UCTV: North Georgia Comcast 265, Charter 5 and Chattanooga Com-cast 96.

COMMUNITY · Walker County Emergency Services will offer a free “Introduction to Babysitting Safety” class for ages 12-18 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 3. The class will be held at Fire Station #1 in Rock Spring, in front of Georgia Northwestern Technical College. Pre-registration is required to ensure adequate course materials.
