COMMUNITY · A fundraiser to help with the cost of restoring LaFayette’s six historic markers will be held Thursday, April 12, at the LaFayette Pizza Hut. To support the fundraiser, a customer turns in a voucher when pay-ing the check, and 20 percent of sales will help fund the restoration project. Restrictions are listed on the voucher. COMMUNITY · The Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) LaFayette career center will sponsor a job fair Thursday, April 12, to help Randstad Staffing fill a number of jobs in the northwest Georgia area. The job fair will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the community room at the LaFayette Housing Authority at 300 South Oak Street. The company is filling job openings for forklift operators, machine operators, pickers and packers, material handlers, and various other positions in Catoosa and Walker counties, and the Chattanooga area. Some positions will require a high school diploma or GED. Applicants should bring resumes and be prepared to interview for job openings for part-time and full-time positions. COMMUNITY · A special called public hearing will be held Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. for the Ringgold Plan-ning and Zoning Commission to consider several requests. A public hearing will then be held Monday, April 23, at 7 p.m. by the Ringgold City Council to consider the recommendations of the Ringgold Planning and Zoning Commis-sion and make final decisions. All meetings will be held at City Hall, 150 Tennessee Street in Ringgold.
COMMUNITY · LaFayette will kick off its annual baseball and softball programs with a parade Thursday, April 12, at 6 p.m. Participants will begin lining up at 5:30 p.m. at the old LaFayette High School. The parade will move from there south along Main Street to the Parks and Recreation Department. ENTERTAINMENT · The Share America Foundation will host the singing talents of teen Mallory Ledford Friday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ringgold Depot, corner of Depot Street and U.S. 41 in Ringgold. Singers Jim Ricketts and Crystle Elam will also perform. Randall Franks from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night” will emcee. The event is a fundraiser for the Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholarship Fund helping musicians achieve higher education. Dona-tions for tickets are adults $5, children 5 and under free with adult.
