COMMUNITY · The Rossville Library will host their weekly homeschool program Tuesday, March 20, at 1 p.m. The class consists of books, games, experiments and/or crafts. The theme this week is “gardening” and the kids will plant flowers.

COMMUNITY · “Ready to R.E.A.D. Time” storytime group at the Rossville library meets Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Join us for books, games, and crafts. All ages welcome, come join the fun! The upcoming themes are: March 20 – How Does Your Garden Grow?, read about plants and flowers and make a flower craft. March 27 - Alakazam!, read magical stories and do magic tricks.

Wednesday, March 21

COMMUNITY · An exhibit on quilts and their history will run in Chattooga Academy through April 29. The ex-hibit features quilts that belong to LaFayette area families, including two quilts on loan from the Martin Davis House. A volunteer will be on hand to assist visitors with the exhibit Sundays from 1-3 p.m. Chattooga Academy is open between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. most days Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The building is at 304 N. Main St., LaFayette, Ga. Admission is free. For more information, call 706-639-1519.

COMMUNITY · The Fort Oglethorpe city council work session previously scheduled for March 21 at 1 p.m. has been canceled.

COMMUNITY · Homeschooled children are invited to come to the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library on Wednesday, March 21, at 1 p.m. to read books, learn and converse with other students their age.

COMMUNITY · Seniors and Friends of Fort Oglethorpe meet each Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Constitu-tion Hall on Forrest Road. The all-volunteer group offers games, crafts, blood pressure/blood sugar checks, bingo and refreshments. The remaining March schedule is: March 21 and 27, crafts, games, bingo, blood pressure/sugar checks. For information or transportation, call Peggy Stanfield at 706-866-1369.

Thursday, March 22

COMMUNITY · Thursday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m., the Friends of Chickamauga Public Library will hold a brief in-formational meeting followed by guest speaker Mark Mariakis. Mr. Mariakis is the head football coach at Ridgeland High School. Coach Mariakis was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma (benign brain tumor) in 2008. Come hear his inspirational and humorous story of strength and courage. Light refreshments will be served.
