COMMUNITY · The LaFayette-Walker County Public Library will have their Preschool Ready to READ class on Mondays, March 12, 19 and 26, at 10 a.m.

EDUCATION · March 13, Walker County Schools will host a “Basic Rights and Responsibilities” workshop for parents of children with special needs. The workshop will be held at Rossville Elementary School beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dinner and childcare will be provided if you RSVP by March 12. Call 706-866-5215 to RSVP.

COMMUNITY · The Walker County Development Authority will have a regular monthly meeting March 13 at noon at the Walker County Civic Center at 10052 N. Highway 27 in Rock Spring.

COMMUNITY · The next Catoosa County Tea Party meeting will be Tuesday, March 13, at the Acoustic Cafe in Ringgold, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The guest speaker will be Dean Kelley from the Northwest Georgia Tea Party. He will be speaking about Agenda 21, an environmental action plan adopted by the U.S. under George Bush.

EDUCATION · The Walker County Board of Education will hold a planning session at the Walker County Schools Advancing Education Center at 6:00 p.m. March 13 For more information, call 706-638-1240.

COMMUNITY · Walker County’s Constitutional Officers – clerk of court Carter Brown, probate judge Christy Anderson, tax commissioner Carolyn Walker and sheriff Stevew Wilson – will present a program on the services and duties of their respective offices at the Center Post Community Center Tuesday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m.

COMMUNITY · “Ready to R.E.A.D. Time” storytime group at the Rossville library meets Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Join us for books, games, and crafts. All ages welcome, come join the fun! The upcoming themes are: March 13 – New Author, visit from a new local picture book author and cat games; March 20 – How Does Your Garden Grow?, read about plants and flowers and make a flower craft. March 27 - Alakazam!, read magical stories and do magic tricks.

Wednesday, March 14

COMMUNITY · Seniors and Friends of Fort Oglethorpe meet each Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Constitu-tion Hall on Forrest Road. The all-volunteer group offers games, crafts, blood pressure/blood sugar checks, bingo and refreshments.
