A Ringgold man was arrested on multiple charges after he was found to be in possession of marijuana while un-der the influence of alcohol.

According to the Ringgold Police Department:

David Allen Stevens, 27, of Tipton Drive in Ringgold was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 26, on charges of DUI, posses-sion of marijuana less than one ounce, driving on a suspended license, and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Stevens has been released from jail on bond.

The initial traffic stop occurred after Stevens ran a stop sign at the intersection of Vining Circle and Ga. 151 (Alabama Highway) shortly after midnight, reports show.

“Upon making contact with the driver, I could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage and burnt marijuana com-ing from the interior of the vehicle,” officer Tom Evans wrote in the report. “While speaking with the driver, he was extremely agitated, his hands were visibly shaking as well as his right leg. He also continued to utter the phrase ‘I can’t go to jail, I can’t go to jail’.”

After receiving consent from Stevens to search the vehicle, a cell phone bag containing marijuana, a silver grinder containing additional marijuana, rolling papers, and a pipe were found in the center dash of the vehicle.
