COMMUNITY · On Saturday, February 25, beginning at 1 p.m., Walker County author Barbara Casey will read from her latest novel, “The Cadence of Gypsies,” at the Chattooga County Library in Summerville. The public is invited to attend. Written for both adults and young adults, “The Cadence of Gypsies” has been reviewed by the Smith-sonian for its list of Most Notable Books.
COMMUNITY · Liberty Tax Service, 6981 Nashville St. in Ringgold, will host a roadside party from noon until 3 p.m. In addition to free food, games, a raffle and a bounce house, Liberty Tax is asking the community to donate clothing and food for Christ Chapel to help those in need.
ENTERTAINMENT · Have you ever wondered if there were black people in the Bible? If so, this is your personal invitation to attend an African American celebration program, “Black Presence in the Bible,” Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the Walker County Civic Center in Rock Spring, sponsored by Let’s Make A Difference, Inc. Church leaders will portray black people recorded in the Bible, and youth and young people will participate in song and creative dance.
ENTERTAINMENT · Word of Faith Tabernacle will hold a benefit singing Feb. 25 to defray funeral expenses for Ralph L. Sizemore. Singers include the Revelators and Right Path Bluegrass Gospel. Chili and hot dogs will be available for a donation. The singing will begin at 2 p.m. The church is on Happy Valley Road in Rossville.

COMMUNITY · The Walker County Historical Society will meet at the Marsh House at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb-ruary 26. The program on the history of the First Baptist Church of LaFayette will be presented by Marilyn Ransom, a retired teacher from Walker County Schools, who holds degrees from the University of Tennessee and Berry Col-lege. She has been a member of LaFayette First Baptist Church since 1948 and has been a Sunday school teacher for many of those years. She is knowledgeable about local history and is a member of Friends of the Marsh House. The public is invited.
