COMMUNITY · U.S. Rep. Tom Graves’s Dalton district office will hold an outreach event Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 for veterans of the U.S. military. The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Dalton City Hall, 300 W. Waugh Street in Dalton. Veterans will be able to seek guidance on the following topics: education, VA loans, compensation and pension, vocational rehabilitation, and help for homeless veterans. Officials from the U.S. Department of Vet-erans Affairs will be at this event to answer questions and listen to veterans’ concerns.
COMMUNITY · U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson will host a town hall meeting in Dalton, on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 4 to 5 p.m. Isakson will give a brief update from Washington, D.C. and then will spend the rest of the hour taking ques-tions from constituents. The meeting will be held in Dalton State’s Gignilliat Memorial Hall, in Goodroe Audito-rium, at 650 College Avenue.
COMMUNITY · Bike Walk Northwest Georgia will meet Thursday, Feb. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon in the basement training room of the Carnegie Library at 607 Broad Street, Rome. Bike Walk Northwest Georgia’s goal is to devise plans and programming to facilitate and promote the safe use of bicycles and walking as viable modes of transpor-tation and recreation for all ages and skill levels. COMMUNITY · Liberty Tax Service, 6981 Nashville St. in Ringgold, will host a roadside party from noon until 3 p.m. In addition to free food, games, a raffle and a bounce house, Liberty Tax is asking the community to donate clothing and food for Christ Chapel to help those in need.
ENTERTAINMENT · Have you ever wondered if there were black people in the Bible? If so, this is your personal invitation to attend an African American celebration program, “Black Presence in the Bible,” Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the Walker County Civic Center in Rock Spring, sponsored by Let’s Make A Difference, Inc. Church leaders will portray black people recorded in the Bible, and youth and young people will participate in song and creative dance.
