COMMUNITY · The Ringgold Middle School State Special Olympics basketball fundraiser will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Ringgold Middle School, beginning at 12:10 p.m. Special Olympic athletes from all three Catoosa County middle schools and all three Catoosa County high schools will participate. Admission will be $1 to watch the games, but any donations are welcome as the April storm has depleted supplies and extra funds. All donations collected will go to buy warm-ups and to pay for Special Olympic athletes to participate in the state competition Jan. 20-22 in Atlanta. Thursday, Dec. 22

FAMILY · Eugene, Lorri and Brody Ridley invite all friends and family of Gary Allen Ridley and Betty Jean (Parker) Ridley to a celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. The celebration is at the Corinth Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 2524 Corinth Road, LaFayette.

COMMUNITY · Stop by the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library anytime through Thursday, Dec. 22, and take time to relax in its Christmas corner. Hot chocolate, Christmas crafts and a different movie each day of the week will be set up in a corner of the library.

Friday, Dec. 23

COMMUNITY · Friday, Dec. 23, North Georgia EMC business offices in Dalton, Calhoun and Fort Oglethorpe will be open from 7:30 a.m. to noon and in Trion from 8 a.m. to noon. All offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 26, in observance of the Christmas holidays. NGEMC offices will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of New Year’s Day.

CHURCH · First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe will hold a candlelight Christmas Eve service Saturday, Dec. 24, at 10:45 p.m. The church is located at 2645 LaFayette Road in Fort Oglethorpe. The phone number is 706-866-0232.

CHURCH · LaFayette Presbyterian Church invites the community to attend a “Candle-light Open House” on Christmas Eve from 5-7 p.m. All are welcome to come into the church for quiet reflection and communion. A pamphlet with suggestions for Scripture reading and prayers will be available.

COMMUNITY · The Marsh House will hold candlelight tours from 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 23, 24, 30 and 31. The cost for tours and programs is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12 and $1 for children ages 2-5. All tours will include Victorian Christmas toys, customs and history.
