Fort Oglethorpe police arrested a Cleveland, Tenn., man after he was found to be possession of marijuana fol-lowing a traffic stop.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

Allen Michael Hawkins, 33, of 3626 Stephens Road Apt. 569 in Cleveland, Tenn., was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 15, and charged with driving while license suspended, open container, and possession of marijuana less than one-ounce. He has been released on bond.

Hawkins was involved in a traffic stop at The Home Depot at 2055 Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway), where it was dis-covered that he was driving on a suspended license.

“Upon asking Mr. Hawkins for his drivers license, he stated that it was suspended through the state of South Carolina,” officer David Gilbert wrote in the report. “I noticed two open cans of beer in the cup holders between the seats, and also detected a smell of what I believed to be marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.”

Hawkins admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day and stated that he had additional marijuana in his vehicle, reports show.
