Dear editor:

On Aug. 28 at 6 a.m., Bob Burrell was going to pick up his Sunday paper on Nancy Drive in Flintstone, Ga., and noticed two suspicious white males in his next door neighbor’s driveway. He asked them what they were doing and they fled. The two suspects then got into a red Jeep Cherokee after breaking into his next door neighbor’s vehicle.

He called the Walker County Sheriff’s Department and deputy Kevin Denny arrived along with deputy Holt and detective Sgt. Anthony, and began an investigation. They arrested Phillip T. Knight, 20, Jason V. Sander's, 28, and they took out warrants on Emily M. Brook's, 28, for entering autos and theft by taking. They were also able to make several other cases on all three alleged suspects as the result of their investigations. They also recovered some of the property from several other car burglaries in the area thanks to Bob Burrell and all the deputies. The deputies tracked two of the suspects down after working several hours on these cases. All these men should be commended for a job well done. All three suspects were charged with entering autos and theft by taking.

I myself am a retired detective sergeant with the Chattanooga Police Department and a retired Hamilton County park ranger, so I know what is involved in all of this.

Sgt. Ralph S. Brown, Flinstone
