ASA SOFTBALL UPDATE: Mustangs roll in pool play opener

The Tennessee Mustangs, featuring several Gordon Lee High School rising senior softball players, opened pool play in the 16-under USA/ASA "A" World Series in Chattanooga on Monday morning with a dominating 11-0 win over the (IN) Black Widows at Warner Park.

Courtney Towns went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and four RBIs, while Kendall Johnson was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs.

The Mustangs will take on the All-American Road Runners (PA) at noon on Tuesday at Frost Stadium to determine the No. 1 seed from Pool F. The Road Runners beat the Utah Slammers on Monday, 7-4.

Bracket play will begin on Wednesday.
