The road to qualify for the nation’s most prestigious soccer tournament, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, runs through Chattanooga this weekend. Six teams are competing for the honor of representing the NPSL Southeast Conference in the 97-year-old tournament.

Chattanooga FC plays Rocket City United (Huntsville) Saturday at 8 p.m. at Finley Stadium. This will be a test for Chattanooga as Rocket City is coming off a 7-1 trouncing of FC Tulsa in Friday night’s quarterfinal match.

“We like our chances playing at home - familiar situations and great fans, but we still have to play great soccer to win,” said CFC head coach, Brian Crossman. “We’re thankful the organization took the initiative to bring the tournament home, rather than being on the road for qualifying.”

Also in action Saturday night is Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves who play Jacksonville United FC, the other quarterfinal winner, at 5:30.

The winners from Saturday night’s semifinal matches will play on Sunday at 7 p.m. The winner of the championship game will qualify for the opening round of the Open Cup, which will consist of 32 teams from the MLS, USL and NPSL.

Weekend passes can be purchased for $15 per person at the gate. Day passes will be $10 per person or $5 per game.
