Pilgrim was named the STAR Student for the Chickamauga City Schools and Pruitt was named the winning STAR Student from the Walker County Public Schools. The winners will advance to a regional STAR competition to be held in late April.
In order to qualify for the STAR program, a student must be enrolled in public or private school within the state of Georgia and must be in the upper 10 percent or top ten students scholastically of his or her class. The student must have taken the College Board Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) on national testing dates and must have SAT scores at least equal to the latest available national high school average.
A STAR Teacher is chosen by the STAR Student as the teacher who has contributed most to the Student’s academic development. It is necessary for the teachers to have expressed exceptional leadership in the classroom.
