Last night Rossville’s Lauren Alaina Suddeth made it into “American Idol”’s top 24, which is the semi-finalist round.

The 16-year-old is a student at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High school. She is the daughter of Kristy and J.J. Suddeth of Rossville.

Last night the contestants were narrowed to 12 males and 12 females.

The Fox show’s live shows will pick up beginning Tuesday, March 1, and Wednesday, March 2, at 8 p.m. with the males and females performing on consecutive nights.

Then the fans will be able to vote for their favorites for the first time.

On Thursday, March 3, at 8 p.m. the finalists will be announced. The five male and five female contestants with the most votes will be this season’s finalists. The judges will also make their special “Wild Card” picks, rounding out the finalists. “American Idol” has not revealed how many “wild cards” will be picked.

Suddeth is a veteran performer, having sang every week at Magoo’s on Ringgold Road in East Ridge, Tenn. She won the WinnieStar youth talent contest at Lake Winnepesaukah in Rossville in 2009. She has also performed a number of times at Acoustic Cafe in Ringgold.

Ironic!!!! The newspaper did it accidentally by omission, while "spelt" seems a bit more deliberate, intentional, methodical, calculated, scrupulous, or sarcastic even. But in actuality it wound up being a pot calling a kettle black. Heavens to Murgatroyd
