Taking a ride around Catoosa County, to see the fall colors I noticed many emergency vehicles, there are two locations in Fort Oglethorpe, three in the County and at least one in Ringgold. There seems to be as many as a dozen ambulances in our small county. Someone told me that this was because of 9/11 and that homeland security offered some grant money in case a massive response was ever needed. Yet to staff all these units and to make payments on all the equipment drives up prices to unbelievable levels. I hear of excessive prices just to pick up a patient at a local nursing home and take them a mile or so to Hutcheson can cost hundreds. Would be nice to have the paper do a well researched article on this situation.
