A Ringgold man was arrested after police say he fled the scene during a botched attempt to steal an $8 bottle of vitamins from The Wal-Mart on Battlefield Parkway.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

Adam James Walker, 26, of Walker Lane in Ringgold was arrested on Friday, April 20, for shoplifting.

Walker has since been released from jail on bond.

Officers arrived at Wal-Mart at 3040 Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway) at approximately 10:30 a.m. in regards to a call that the attempted shoplifter had fled the scene on foot after being confronted by store employees.

“The employee advised that he approached the offender after he witnessed him attempting to steal a bottle of vi-tamins,” officer Chad Cardin wrote in the report. “The offender handed the employee the merchandise, and then fled the scene.”

After receiving a description of the man, officers began a scan of the area and located Walker behind nearby Moriah Baptist Church, reports show.
