The engagement and forthcoming marriage of Jillian Cherie Hale and Matthew Walter Pitts is announced today.

The future bride is the daughter of Gale and Johnny Hale of Rossville. Hale’s grandparents are Rev. and Mrs. Gurney Beard of Rossville and Mrs. Opal Hale and the late Roger Hale Sr. of Rossville. She is the sister of Danielle Hale of Chattanooga and Chase Hale of Rossville.

Hale is a graduate of Chattanooga State Community College. She is a registered nurse and is employed at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

The future groom is the son of Anne and Walter Pitts of Calhoun. Pitts’ grandparents are Mrs. Betty Black and the late Ralph E. Black of Dalton, Georgia and the late Mr. and Mrs. John William Pitts of Alpharetta, Ga. He is the brother of Betsy Childers and her husband, Aaron Childers, of Calhoun, Georgia.

Pitts is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. While a student at UTC, Pitts competed for four years as a member of the UTC Mocs Wrestling Team. Pitts is employed as an educator with Gordon County Schools and as a wrestling coach at Shorter University in Rome.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, May 28, at Tennessee River Place in Chattanooga.
