The Rick Honeycutt World Series was pared down to the final four teams in each of the three age groups after play ended on Monday at Fort Oglethorpe.

In the 6-U Gold double-elimination bracket, top-seeded Bartow Blue edged Macedonia, 15-13, in a winners' bracket semifinal, while second-seeded LaFayette was ambushed by the New Georgia Orioles, 20-5.

Bartow and New Georgia will face off at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday with a spot in the championship on the line.

LaFayette rebounded from the loss to knock off Tops Baseball, 26-19, later on Monday. The Orange-and-Black will square off with Macedonia at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Macedonia stayed alive after eliminating the Boynton Generals, 10-7. The Generals beat the Middle Valley Predators, 14-13, in a game Monday morning.

The LaFayette-Macedonia winner will go up against the Bartow-New Georgia losers at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the losers' bracket final.

Wednesday's championship game is slated for 6 p.m. Wednesday with a second game, if necessary, to be played at 8.

The 6-U Silver single-elimination bracket saw the Boynton Scrappers earn a win over Chickamauga, while the Middle Valley Rage beat LFO. The final two opening-round games saw Dade County defeat East Ridge White and Ringgold take out Chattanooga Valley.

In the semifinals, the Scrappers advanced to the championship with a win over the Rage while Dade County beat Ringgold.

The championship game will be played at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

In the 9-U division, top-seeded Bradley is into Wednesday night's 6 p.m. final after a win over Signal Mountain. Signal will play Tuesday at 8 against the winner of the 6 p.m. game between Gordon County and Dade County.

LFO eliminated Chickamauga early Monday morning and LFO was knocked out later in the day after a loss to Gordon County.

The 11-U division championship could be a rematch between the two teams representing the LFO Recreation Association.

LFO beat the Warriors in the winners' bracket final on Monday, meaning the Warriors must defeat the winner of the Hixson-South Cherokee game on Tuesday afternoon to earn another shot at their LFORA brethen in the Wednesday night's 6 p.m. final.

Hixson and South Cherokee will play at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday with the winner facing the Warriors at 7:30.

Dizzy Dean update

The Boynton Bulls saw their Dizzy Dean 12-year-old state tournament run come to an end on Monday evening with a loss to Aragon Green in an elimination game at Sandy Springs.

The only local team left with a chance to win state is the 7-year-old Boynton Bandits, who will face host Canton in a winners' bracket game Tuesday night.
