Down a goal with just under 10 minutes remaining, the Chattanooga Valley Middle School Lady Eagles found the net twice in the closing minutes to pull out a 3-2 home soccer victory over Ringgold on Thursday.

Mia Clark gave Ringgold a 1-0 lead in the first half, but an own goal by the Lady Tigers would send the match to halftime knotted at a goal apiece.

Ringgold would get back on the board with approximately 15 minutes left to play. After the Lady Eagles failed to clear the ball out of their own box, Allie McAllister collected the loose ball and found the back of the net to give the Lady Tigers a 2-1 lead.

However, the lead would be short-lived.

Five minutes later, Savannah Derryberry turned the tables on the Lady Tigers, gathering a free ball in the Ringgold box and hammering it home to tie the match.

Then with just over five minutes remaining and the Lady Eagles crashing the box, Katie Carruth was able to get a toe on the ball, redirecting it into the goal for what turned out to be the game-winner.

Chattanooga Valley moved to 3-0-1 on the season with the win, while Ringgold fell to 1-2-1 with the loss.

The lone goal in the boys' match came with about 10 minutes to play in the first half as Ringgold's Carlos Loera scored on a direct free kick from just outside the top of the box in a 1-0 Tiger win.

The Eagles had three good scoring chances in the final 10 minutes of the match. But the apparent equalizer was disallowed on an offsides call, and Ringgold keeper Isaiah Rabalais made two solid saves in the closing minutes to secure the win.

Both teams now sit at 2-2 overall on the season.

Chattanooga Valley will host Walker County foe LaFayette on Monday, while Ringgold will get a visit from longtime Catoosa County rival Lakeview.
