Dear editor:

At the Walker County Tea Party candidate forum on June 16, the following was announced: Christy Johnson Anderson voted in the Democratic Party primaries in 2006, 2008, 2010 and in the Democratic Party presidential preference primary of 2008.

When given the opportunity to explain this, she more or less said she voted in the Democratic Party primary to support her mother, the previous judge. She also said that who she voted for for president was her business.

When she’s running in the GOP primary, if she voted for President Obama, that’s a voting record we can judge her on. It is a question of her judgment to see if her values are really in line with the rest of our values. Her mother/boss was on the ballot in 2008, so what was her reason for voting in the Democratic Party primary in 2006 and 2010?

John Carpenter said he voted in the Democratic Party in 2006 to support his friend Bruce Coker. Coker was on the ballot in 2008 and 2010, not in 2006.

I am a former GOP county party chairman. I am voting for Doug Grammer for probate judge. He’s never voted in a Democratic Party primary and he can keep his story straight.

Ms. McNelley,

I personally believe the way someone votes is not other personal or political concern. We live in a country that gives us a right to vote and to whom we wish to vote. The political race of Christy Anderson is a local race and should be kept to that. The position in itself cannot make any changes on the state and federal levels so the beliefs are irrelevant to that position. The values and morals a person acquires should come from the bible and not a political party. Let's be thankful we have choices in our country and not fault someone for the way they vote.
