The last of the 2012 Dizzy Dean District 1 baseball tournaments came to a close at the Lowell Greene Complex in LaFayette late Tuesday night.

The final three games of the 8-year-old division tournament began with the Chattanooga Valley Eagles holding off the Ringgold Tigers for a thrilling 21-20 victory that earned them a berth in the losers' bracket finals.

Then, against Dade County, the Eagles rallied from four runs down to take a 14-12 lead entering the bottom of the fifth inning. The Wolverines would put up four runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth, then killed a potentially big inning by the Eagles by turning a double play in the sixth to help seal the win, 16-14.

However, Dade County couldn't keep the magic going against the Whitfield Nitro as the kids from Dalton claimed the championship with an easy 21-6 win.

All four teams earned automatic berths in the 8-year-old state tournament in Valdosta, which begins on July 5.
