The Georgia Coroners Association named Catoosa County Deputy Coroner Sharon Anderson as Deputy Coroner of the Year during its annual meeting Nov. 21.

The award is given annually to a deputy coroner in Georgia nominated by peers and chosen by a committee of former recipients. The recipient must be active within the Georgia Coroners Association, as well as in the community.

“It is a person that gives unselfishly of themself and their time. A person that is exemplary in what a deputy coroner should be,” said Mike Adams, GCA president. “This year the committee had many worthy nominations, but none more worthy than Sharon.”

Anderson also works as a forensic nurse at the Children’s Advocacy Center, which she helped found according to Catoosa Coroner Vanita Hullander. She has served as deputy coroner for a decade and serves on several committees for the statewide association.
