Robert Michael Gravitt, 19, of Lee Drive has been charged with armed robbery, following what police chief David Eubanks described as “good detective work” by detective Keith Sewell.
Gravitt’s arrest came just one day after he allegedly robbed Sunset Market at 915 Battlefield Parkway about 10:30 p.m. on May 21.
According to police reports, Gravitt allegedly jumped over the counter after pointing a handgun at the on-duty attendant. Before fleeing he told the clerk to lie on the floor for 15 minutes before getting up.
In an unrelated armed robbery just before midnight on Memorial Day, May 28, detectives are still actively work-ing the case. At this point no arrests have been made and anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department at 706-866-2512.
According to police reports, a black male wielding a handgun entered the Quick Mart at 2526 LaFayette Road in Fort Oglethorpe. He was followed by two other black males, while a fourth reportedly remained in the getaway ve-hicle outside the gas station.
A total of $6,282 was taken in the robbery. One attendant suffered injuries to her face when she was kicked by one of the assailants while forcing her to open the cash register.
